2014-2015 Graduate Assistantship Special Projects

Ball State Knowledgebase

A large part of what I do as a graduate assistant involves reviewing and creating articles for the Technology knowledgebase. I identify commonly-asked questions that we receive at the HelpDesk and create step-by-step guides to walk a Ball State student or faculty member through a particular process that could include anything from downloading new software to posting grades on Blackboard. This involves the use of consistent themes, grammar, and perspective. These articles can be found at www.bsu.edu/helpdesk

Box.com Implementation

In early 2015, Ball State began the switch from the once-used cloud storage component of iLocker to Box.com after purchasing 50gb of storage for all Ball State students, faculty, and staff member. Part of my job was to educate the HelpDesk students on the new web application, troubleshoot new questions about the website, and present several iLearn sessions on Box.com for Ball State community members who were curious about the software and wanted to learn more.

Office 365 Pro Plus Implementation

As part of my graduate assistantship duties, I created 10+ articles on the Ball State Technology website instructing users how to install and use Microsoft Office 365 Pro Plus software (a new program Ball State bought the license for that allows all students and faculty members 5 installations on any devices). Our department held a Microsoft Day for students to come in and get assistance with the new program and ask any difficult questions they had. I was able to diagnose random issues that occurred.
